CORVUM @ BC Legal Innovation Forum 2019
CORVUM’s very own Jason Baumer spoke on the panel “Defining, Developing + Executing An Impactful Legal Technology Strategy” this past Tuesday at the BC Legal Innovation Forum 2019 in Vancouver, BC.
Jason Baumer joined Jeremy Hessing-Lewis (Small Law), Zena Applebaum (Thomson Reuters), Amir Reshef (dealcloser), on the panel chaired by Thomas G. Martin (LawDroid) and introduced by Lynne Charbonneau (BlueShore Financial / The World Bank).
Although the panel acknowledged there is resistance from the legal sector in adopting new technologies, it was encouraging to hear Jeremy Hessing-Lewis confirm he is seeing that “firms are migrating from on-premise computing to cloud-based computing”. He also noted “as soon as [legal professionals] have made that mental-shift [the cloud] opens up all these questions about what your law firm can look like, and how your work will look in several years.”
Jason added, “what we are seeing is that firms of any size are now able to pick and choose which tools suit them best…depending on what size you are, you can find a good fit.”
